The KJC10W is the carbon-wood version of our legendary KJ 3-jaw high load ascender. A thin layer of natural wood is added over the carbon. Even though the aluminum version remains available, the KJC becomes our new standard. The secret of KJ blockers lies in 2 simple technical elements : a conical shape where the more you pull the more it gets stuck and the use of 3 jaws to distribute the load over 360 ° so as to never flatten or damage the ropes. Our blocker is no exception to the chore of cleaning but we have thought of you : The ascender is in 2 parts which makes it possible to extract the ascender very quickly without having to disassemble its glued – screwed support. The result : an innovative and efficient ascender that does not let go and that does not damage the strings. We have counted more than 60 KJ on the fleet of 33 sailing boats participating in the Vendée Globe 2020-2021. Convinced ?

– Aesthetics & design : The art of combining a high performance product in a traditional setting.
– Innovation : 3 jaws surround the rope (instead of 2 on all other Blockers on the market). The load is distributed on the rope and the sheath wears less.
– Innovation : The conical shape accentuates the hold of the rope. The more you pull, the more resistance there is.
– Convenient : The opening and closing (in the axis of the rope) can be controlled remotely by installing extensions. The ascender is installed as close as possible and limits the undesirable effects of the elasticity of the rope. It is very often found as a blocker on headsail tack.
– Ergonomics : The new KJC is now equipped with a jaw closure button on the upper part of the ascender.
– Performance : The rope does not slip. Very little recoil when blocking.
– Convenient : the ascender can be removed from the foot without tools. Maintenance and cleaning are easy. If necessary, the cone can be replaced very quickly.
– Performance : Extremely compact and light.
– Design : Online ordering allows the blocker to be installed in very small spaces.
– Performance : In the open position, the jaws open wide and offer very little resistance to the string
– Performance : The reduced wear of the sheath greatly limits string replacements. Investment in technical ropes is relevant
– Ergonomics : No constraint on the operations height (unlike a jammer that opens from the top : Each KJ can accommodate a wide range of diameters without affecting performance
– The KJ is also available without its foot (KJ CONE) in order to be installed in a laminated liner
– Aesthetics : KJ Carbon is also available with a thin layer of natural wood. It will thus fit perfectly into a teak deck.
– A KJ15 can hold 1.5 T but you must choose a rope capable of withstanding 3 or 4 times this load to prevent the sheath from breaking. This is a valid rule for all blockers in the market.
– The best results observed are with ropes whose sheath is composed of polyester and PBO
– No Blocker on the market can block pure Dyneema. The KJ is no exception
– Like the majority of blockers on the market, KJs are not intended to be opened under load. You will probably be able to do this in an emergency, but it is not designed for that.
– It is possible to remove the locking system in the open position. The modification is done simply in a few minutes. In this case, it is customary to extend the main control with a string and use a cam cleat to keep the ascender open.
– The principle of the ascender in 2 parts makes it possible to easily remove the ascenders during wintering. For new boats, it is possible to install the brackets and come and install the cones at the time of delivery.
– Like all other blockers, the line must be well aligned on entry and exit. The tolerance is 5 ° at the entry and 10 ° at the exit.
– The KJs are blockers intended for both racing and cruising. If you have a problem with a slippery or damaged string, the KJ will easily fix it.
– The locking principle is identical between the aluminum version and the carbon version of the KJ. Beyond the change of material of the foot and the cone, the 3 main evolutions between the KJ and the KJC are the change from the main control of stainless steel cables to textile controls, the replacement of the closing zipper which is located under the main control for the KJs with a button located on the blocker for the KJCs and the replacement of the aluminum jaws in stainless steel jaws.
